Ramzi Fawaz was appointed as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Ambler Metals on September 1, 2020. Mr. Fawaz worked for Newmont Corporation, as Senior Vice President Projects from February 2011 to October 2019 where he was responsible for the development and execution of Newmont’s global major gold & copper projects.
Prior to joining Newmont, Mr. Fawaz served as Senior Vice President Operations of Atomic Energy Canada Ltd. from January 2010 to February 2011where he was responsible for all project development, refurbishment and building of CANDU reactor projects. Before his endeavor with Atomic Energy, Mr. Fawaz held the role of Vice President of Royal Dutch Shell, where he worked for 30 years in various roles. Among those, he was responsible for leading the Athabasca Oil Sands Expansion Project in Canada and the Nigeria LNG Train 3 and LPG expansion project in Nigeria.
Mr. Fawaz brings extensive leadership experience in US and international project development. Throughout his career, Mr. Fawaz has engaged extensively with various stakeholders related to major project developments, including executive management, boards of directors, shareholders, local communities, contractors, utilities and various regional and federal government agencies.
Mr. Fawaz has a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon and a Master’s degree in power engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. He is married with 3 children.
